The Vaccine also known as Gam-Covid-Vac, is combination of two different adenoviruses (Ad26 and Ad5). The adenoviruses – Viruses that cause common cold – are combined with the SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that cause Covid-19) Spike protein, which promotes the body to make an immune response.
The Russian Vaccine, Sputnik V, recently approved by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has an efficacy rate of 91.6 percent. It has a higher response in curbing the severity of the virus. Sputnik V must be given in two doses at 21 days interval.

Serum Institute of India’s Covidshield Vaccine, on the other hand, has an efficacy rate of over 70.4 percent. Its efficacy could reach up to 90 percent if doses of vaccine are taken week apart. Dosing interval is stretched to 12 weeks or more.

The SII had initially launched the vaccine at Rs 150 for the Central Government, Rs 400 for State Governments and Rs 600 for Private Hospitals, However, the company reduced the price by 25 percent for state governments and is now selling its vaccine doses at Rs 300 to state governments. Meanwhile the prices for the centre and private hospitals remained unchanged.

Covaxin is slightly expensive as compare to covishield. For State Governments the vaccine is being marketed at Rs 400, which reduced from Rs 600, while for private hospitals and facilities, it will be priced at Rs 1,200. The vaccine has been sold at Rs 150 to Central Government.
This vaccine is unsafe who might be running with fever at the time of administration, or on blood-thinning medication, suffering from an immune disorder, bleeding problems.
